Michael Reynolds graduated from college in time for the economic crash of 73-74 only to work at a small firm with an Attila the Hun style that lands him and his Russian language background in the Army NSA in what was West Berlin, Germany. Reynolds is posted at an NSA listening site, where he falls in love with an RAF intelligence operative named Angela Lawrence, but they are forced to end their associations due to their clearances. Things grow tense with Solidarity in Poland challenging the Soviet Union. Russia prepares to invade but sees Reagan’s poll numbers go up in 1980. They retreat. While on leave in Vienna, Austria, Michael meets and marries an American from Texas before returning home, where he works in TV advertising. Reynolds is berated for being “mainstream” until he works for an Indian software manufacture.
