Bethany, a 25 year old Nurse in London, who feeds the homeless in her spare time, is called home to Wales where her parents are wealthy farmers who go to Spain for a holiday where they are tragically killed in an accident. She marries a friend who helps with the farm, a marriage of convenience. He leaves her and she sells the farm to buy an old manor house which she turns into a Holiday home for the children from the East End of London and many more people who come needing a listening ear, good food and comfort. Her travels take her to Africa, the Indian Ocean where she marries for the second time, and Spain where she has an interest in a vineyard. The people who come to the Alpha Home are varied and all have interesting stories to tell. ‘Alpha' is the name of the letter at the beginning of the Greek alphabet. Often the visit people make to the Home is the beginning of a new life for them.
