A lot can happen to a guy when he turns eighteen, moves out of his parent’s strict home, makes the journey from a small rural town to a big urban city, and becomes acquainted with the craziness of college. He knew his life would be different in this new and exciting environment, but he never expected what was to come in the next four and a half years of his life. The parties were expected, as were the girls and the booze, but what is not glorified in the stories commonly told through the shallow American folklore of the 20th and 21st centuries is the rest of the experience. Perhaps this book, full of contemplative poetry about one man’s involvement in the higher education institutions of this society can break the surface. There is no order to how these poems are arranged throughout this book. The truth is, the author never put a date on any of them. The last one on the final page could have been the first one he wrote, and the first one of the first page could have been his last. They were all written between the years 2008 and 2012 since that was the time he attended college. When during that time is as unknown to the author as it is the reader. Hopefully the order chosen for this book won’t make much of a difference for the reading experience since it was chosen at random. Enjoy.
