'Albert Speer & Partner' is one of the few German architectural firms with an international reputation gained through many years of professional practice. AS&P developed such projects as the diplomatic quarter in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as well as large government buildings for Abuja, the new capital of Nigeria. The firm also helped shape Frankfurt into a modern finance and services metropolis and into a cultural center. The current focus at AS&P is urban planning and architectural design for the vast industrial and military wastelands especially in what was formerly East Germany. The main characteristic of AS&P's work is a combination of architecture and urbanism. Their inclusive and interdisciplinary approach yields solutions which are integral, long lasting and in keeping with urban reality. This is the first major publication on AS&P, documenting nearly forty recent projects. Individual buildings and urban planning are shown in great detail, offering scaled drawings and descriptive texts. Short essays provide an informative analysis of the planning method unique to this firm.
