Dan Morrison, on a short visit to NY where he once lived, has some time to burn. He decides to walk from the Warwick Hotel to Grand Central Terminal to buy a bus ticket to JFK airport -- an unnecessary errand. As he walks, the sights and sounds of Manhattan stimulate many thoughts, among them the relationship between art and fashion. But most importantly, he thinks about several women in his life, including his current and former wives. Ducking into St. Patricks Cathedral for a few moments of quiet, Dan forgets that a church can bring to mind a particularly troubling incident -- one he cant seem to resolve -- and to his discomfort, hes forced to try again to make sense of it. Continuing on to his destination, he has an unexpected encounter that both causes him to wonder about what lies ahead and challenges his values. Interested readers can find a photographic tour of Dans walk on the authors website with related excerpts from the text and an explanation of the nature of the work. There is a link to the website on both the table of contents page of the story and at the end.
