Lettice Galbraith’s collection of supernatural tales, New Ghost Stories, first appeared in 1893 and became one of the most popular (and most reprinted) ghostly collections of the final decade of the 19th century. Although later republished, this influential and much-sought-after collection has until now been unavailable in eBook form (and print copies are now almost impossible to find). This edition from The Wimbourne Reprint Series contains all the tales from New Ghost Stories (The Case of Lady Lukestan, The Trainer’s Ghost, The Ghost in the Chair, In the Séance Room, The Missing Model and The Ghost’s Revenge) with the addition of Galbraith's story The Blue Room, which first appeared in Macmillan’s Magazine in October 1897. Lettice Galbraith, the person, is somewhat of an enigma. Despite extensive research by some of the most eminent aficionados of the genre, no historical or biographical details of this mysterious writer have been found. However, in the Preface to this book, author Alastair Gunn shows that Galbraith's real name was "L. Gibson" and tentatively suggests she may have been one and the same with author Lettice Susan Gibson (b. 1859).
