The catalogue is not just a souvenir of a delightful day's viewing. In the first section there are four articles that examine more closely various aspects of seventeenth-century music. The largest part of the catalogue is formed by the descriptions of the paintings. Here, each painting on show is described by the art historians Edwin Buijsen, Fred Meijer and Paul Verbraeken, who have included a discussion of musical aspects of the work in question. The next section provides several articles describing the instruments seen in the exhibition, written by Michael Latcham and other specialists. The catalogue concludes with a piece by Louis Grijp, who has compiled a list with the help of seventeenth-century sources, mentioning every instrument that appears in these paintings. Includes Audio-CD - Jacob van Eyck & Dutch - Songs of the Golden Age; and Photo-CD - pictures at a Hoogsteder Exhibition.
