In a tranquil Midwestern suburb, retired filmmaker Leo Mayer is slipping into Alzheimer's, haunted by memories of World War II and of someone named Auggie. Leo's third wife, Shirley, hires a detective to track down the identity behind this cryptic name. But now Shirley is floating facedown in the swimming pool and her P.I. is in the hospital with a concussion. Everybody's last hope is Gilda Liberty, movie palace owner and reluctant sleuth. It's up to Gilda to ferret out the truth, as she delves into the fast cuts and tantalizing flashbacks of a lethal real-life scenario featuring the elusive Auggie - and a killer who has mastered the art of the 'Slow dissolve'.
