Now the authors of The Bahamas Cruising Guide have created a cruise-planning CD to accompany the book. This product, of particular value for the first- or second-time Bahamas cruiser, uses the powerful search-engine capabilities of a CD to enable the user to select his/her cruising itinerary from a menu or build his own from the extensive database. The planning software is simple to use and runs in Windows. From the overall map of the Bahamas, click on one of the distinct regions or island chains. You'll see anautical chart of the area you've chosen, with features and anchorages highlighted. Depending on your preferences, the software will highlight protected anchorages, resupply points, prime diving or sportsfishing spots, nightlife opportunities, or secluded havens. Use mouse clicks to read port-to-port distances. Select a harbor, and you'll see a large-scale map of the anchorage and town with a description of what you'll find thre and an array of stunning on-the-water and aerial still photos shot for this CD. Click back to the regional chart at any time.
